IST
Yay! I'm back with all my people now! Right now I'm living in Bishkek at the Issyk Kul Hotel which kinda sucks but I've got exellent company. It's just great to see Dan, Tim, Nicole, Greg, Dobster and all the kiddies! I love being around all of them (or most of them) but I like Dan the most. I think he's my best Kyrgyz friend (don't let it confuse you, he's from Michigan) and he also speaks the best Kyrgyz of all the volunteers. I like to say that I taught him all he knows but in actuallity I only taught him about 90% of it. I'm going to visit Dan when I get home and he's gonna come visit me.
So what is IST? Inhabitable Stationary Turntables? Interdisciplinary Strata and Theology? no, no,no you silly people! It's "Inservice Training!" (In Kyrgyzstan's form of English "In" and "Service" are actually two words. That's why we are able to leaglly fashion the name "Inservice Training" and walk on clouds and stuff.)
So i'm in the Peace Corps office now typing. free computers rock!
What are we learning? Ya know when a male cow poops? Yeah, that's what we're learning. Stuff about saftey & security (good ol' Marat), medical stuff (the extremely awesome Yalena), and technical stuff about teaching. We also get language training which is fun and intresting and tommorow we have an open session in which I'm gonna talk about ASL or American Sign Language. I got two books on it from amazon.uk a while ago and the kids I taught it to are eating it up! Now they do the sign for 'hi' instead of saying it. They think it's so cool! I'm excited about getting to talk and hope that a bunch of volunteers will hop on the ASL bandwagon.
Why is being with all of my friends so great? It's because we're all experiencing the same general frustrations in our little corners of Kyrgyzstan. At my site when Temerlan or one of the other Kyrgyz people pissed me off I didn't have anyone to talk to about it and had to keep it bottled up inside. I keep lots of stuff bottled up and I know I shouldn't do it and that its bad for me. At all of the volunteers first meeting after working for six months I came to find out that everyone was experiencing the same frustrations that I was which felt great. Now we should all have a fun summer with everyone's summer educational projects that we had the chance to tell each other about this IST. I'm going to teach sign language in Mahima & Amy's girl's camp in Karakol and Jenny's Children's Day activities in Balukchi along with my Astronomy Club, Cooking Club, Movie-watching club and Sign Language club. Should keep me busy this Summer!
can you imagine?
I'm sounding happy for once!

Hi kyrgyzkishi
Look, I hope you don't mind, but I found your blog using baking as a search term. I'm trying to find original articles and recipes for my cooking websites.
I can and do use the article directories, but much of the stuff in them is hardly original and gets widely used. I'm hoping to persuade people like you, who have an interest in cooking, to contribute as well. I use a wide variety of articles and styles - just so long as it's food orientated - and I think the kind of things you write about in IST would be very popular :0)
The quid pro quo is a link back to your blog - or website if you have one. If this doesn't interest you, please forgive the intrusion. If it does, I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes
