I'm home. Back where white blankets the tops of the mountains and the plethora of sheep make disturbing hacking sounds periodically throughout the day and night. Back to a place that I loved once and will love again. Back to Kyrgyzstan.

Andre is Kyrgyz!

As I was going to Kyzyl Suu (Red Water) the other day the driver of my marshrutka sounded exactly like Andre the Giant except that Andre spoke in a form of English not fully deciphered by scholars and my Kyrgyz Andre spoke in, none other tounge than Kyrgyz. It was great fun! I sat, wedged between kishiler, chuckling and chuckling and chuckling some more. 'Stop that rhyming now, I mean it!'

But was he as BIG as Andre was? Sounds like you're still having a nice time. Sorry I missed your call yesterday - I went to brunch with mom and dad (they came to visit me at school!). And you had to stand out in the snow - brrr! I got a new snowboard (it's super awesome) so I wouldn't mind some snow right now. Call me again sometime -- I like hearin' from youse. Oh and Happy Valentine's Day! Go eat chocolate!

Love,
LB

I thought those people were short and squat. Where'd the big guy come from? When Mom and I have been watching all the street scenes in the Silk Road travel videos, it's very apparent which people are of Chinese ancestory and which are the Russians and the Slavs. Do they ever intermarry? And who let the Usbeks in? What a hodge-podge their family picnics must be. Keep up the good work. DAD

I read your favorite book tonight (The Last Song of Dusk)...heart-wrenchingly beautiful to say the least. I may never sleep again. I look forward to hearing why you're fond of it. Take care and watch out for ROUS' (Rodents of Unusual Size).
Love, Claire
