I'm home. Back where white blankets the tops of the mountains and the plethora of sheep make disturbing hacking sounds periodically throughout the day and night. Back to a place that I loved once and will love again. Back to Kyrgyzstan.

neglectation, part 1

Yes, it's true. I have been neglecting those of you in the states and recieving many an angry email for it. With Claire demanding I put pictures up somewhere online and Maria dissapointed in my blogging expertise, I feel that I have let all of you down. But have no fear! I will find out how to put pictures online as soon as I find time (and maybe videos too) and I hope that this blog entry will satisfy Maria's craving, at least temporarily.

So.

Here's my update:

I am not working for the London School as I led all of you to believe. After recieving a dozen or so correspondences from their recruiter while residing in the states, I went to the London School (when I arived in Bishkek) and the person I spoke with said there was no employment available. So I went to American School on Aida's recomendation (her niece, Aijarkun, studies there) and promptly got a job. But of course one job is not enough to satisfy Taylor, oh no! I am working at American School on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and at Cavendish College on Tuesday and Thursday. I was teaching a movie club at Lingua on Saturday but my future sporadic attendance worried the director so she gave the all-important movie club to someone else. Just fine with me. I get Saturdays off now.

I like my routine. I teach at American School from 11:40 so I get to sleep late. Conversely I have to be at Cavendish at 8:00 in the morning and when you factor in a fifteen minute walk to the marshrutka, ten minutes waiting for it and then a half-hour ride, I have to leave the apartment at 7:00. I wake up at 5:20. As in the states very little changes with me. I still like to get up early and take my time.

American School is working on my new visa because my one-month tourist visa has expired, so what are they getting me? A student visa! 'But Taylor! You're not a student!' that's what I said, but I am now oficially enrolled in American School for the Fall08/Spring09 school year. Doesn't make much sense to me, but hey, it's not my country!

Right now there's not much else that I can think of to report. I know there's always something to report about a place that all of you have never seen (sans my parents) but I'm sure I'll think of it as soon as I get home. Besides, it's 10:09 right now by the computer's clock. I woke up at 5:20 this morning and am getting a little sleepy.

As for Aida, she's doing just fine and we're getting along wonderfully! Right now she's at Karate practice. She gets all kinds of monstorous black and blue bruises on her legs from getting kicked by little kids. But Aida can dish it out as well as she can take it!

more to come.

"neglectation" What a wonderful made-up word!I think I'll use it on your dad! I'd love to know how you perceive things have changed since I was there. I imagine you there walking on the wide treelined avenues with the surreal white spires in the background. We miss you here (especially Clam). Talk to you soon. As always, much love from home.xoxomom

Hey Tay-
So glad to hear things are going well. Keep us updated. Also, I'm finished with grad school and teaching now. So, you'll need to send emails to me at wvmountaingirl1@yahoo.com instead of my WVWC address. Sending my love! xo, Jenny
